Psychodynamic therapy
We explore how past experiences and relationships shape present expectations, emotional responses, and ways of protecting yourself.
Clinical psychologist · Charlotte, North Carolina
I work with people facing complex psychological and relationship challenges, especially those who have made a real effort to change but continue to struggle. Sometimes previous therapy has even left them feeling worse. I take that experience seriously.
My approach brings together psychodynamic therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). We look closely at why familiar patterns persist, while building the ability to respond differently in daily life.

My clinical focus
People often understand their difficulties in words, yet find themselves repeating the same reactions. I work to understand the emotional history, relationships, and protective strategies beneath those reactions. We also look at what happens in the present: where avoidance narrows life, where values get lost, and what a workable next step could be.
This work can be especially important when earlier treatment felt too narrow, too quick, or did not fit the complexity of the problem. We start by understanding what happened, including what was unhelpful in past therapy.

We explore how past experiences and relationships shape present expectations, emotional responses, and ways of protecting yourself.
We practice making room for difficult thoughts and feelings so they have less control over your choices, and connect change to what matters to you.

In the community
I joined Charlotte Today for a conversation about helping children and families navigate back-to-school fears.
Beyond the therapy room
I co-founded a Charlotte practice for thoughtful, collaborative psychotherapy and psychological testing.
